Our Aim
yITAMIC has one big goal: connecting the Italian community of early stage imaging scientists to foster collaboration between labs and groups.
Our dream is to become one big family which shares experience, tools, and a passion for science. This approach will promote the development of careers of early career scientists in the field of molecular imaging and will also lead to a strong Italian representation in the broader, international ESMI community – we invite all Italian early career scientists and Italians working abroad to participate!
Our Main Objectives
- To gather the early career molecular imaging community in Italy, create a proactive national network, and provide a supportive platform for sharing knowledge and experiences.
- To offer a very easy entry point for MSc, PhD, and (early) postDocs into the imaging science community.
- To offer an overview of the research activities in the field of molecular imaging in Italy.
- To foster scientific collaborations between different laboratories.
- To attract members to the ESMI in order to contribute to and strengthen the international imaging science community.

Looking back @ Chat & Science Days | Edition II
18/19 September 2025, Rome
What a wonderful time we had with the most amazing community – a big thanks to all who participated and contributed!
The Chat & Science Day 2025 was our second in-person event and – even though we are biased – we can confidently say it was a great success: we discussed grant applications, visited the Gemelli Science and Technology Park did a tour of Rome, networked, presented, shared, and discussed our research and generally had a fantastic time strengthening the young ESMI network in Italy.

Winners
- Best talk: Marianna Sorrentino “Multiparametric MRI-based phenotyping of MultipleSclerosis (MS): a new in vivo approach for monitoring demyelination and water dynamics in cuprizone-induced MS”
- Best poster: 1st place: Matteo Mari, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, title “Coumarin meets copper: synthesis and characterization of a no3py-based bioconjugate for MCT1 targeting.”
- Best poster: 2nd place: Rebecca Rizzo, University of Torino, title “[68Ga]Ga-AAZTA-FAPI-46: a novel PET tracer for FAP imaging.”
