About the speaker

Francesco obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Pavia in 2016, followed by his Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering in 2019. During his Master studies, he worked as an R&D Junior Researcher for a pharmaceutical company, a role he maintained until 2020. Then, he joined the group of Molecular Microscopy and Spectroscopy at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, where he defended his PhD thesis in 2024.

His research focused on an innovative method for correcting optical aberrations in biological samples, integrating the image scanning microscopy (ISM) technique with deep learning algorithms. In his presentation, Francesco will provide an overview of ISM technique and its applications in lifetime analysis, super-resolution imaging, and sample aberration correction.

What is a yESMInar?

It is a series of short webinars, each organized and chaired by one youngESMI Group

When?

Every third Wednesday per month.

How long?

45 minutes

Who?

The main speaker is an early career imaging scientists selected and invited by the organizing youngESMI Group. The subsequent discussion round is led by a senior expert/PI.

Why?

Promote the work of young imaging scientists. Provide an informal platform for extending the professional network of young imaging scientists.
