Abstract submission rules

All abstracts must be prepared according to the following rules, and submitted via the submission tool.

Preparation of Abstract

  • The abstract must be related to one of the following categories:
    • Applications
    • Technology
    • Chemistry/Probes
  • Abstract text is limited to 2850 characters (excluding title, list of authors, and affiliations) and must include:
    • Title
    • List of authors incl. affiliation of all contributing authors (university, laboratory/department, city, country).
  • The abstract body must consist of the following structure:
    • Introduction – 600 characters
    • Methods – 800
    • Results/Discussion – 1000
    • Conclusions – 400
    • Acknowledgement/References (optional)
    • You are also asked to comment on Novelty and Impact of your work
  • The presenting/submitting author must be certain that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission.
  • One figure (picture, graph or table, jpeg format only) can be included in the abstract. Stick to a file size of 2 MB max. and provide a substantial figure description.
Important notice
  • Author(s), Abstract Category, Preferred Presentation Type (oral or poster flash talk), Comment on Impact/Novelty have to be directly filled in the submission system.
  • The abstract body (Intro, Methods, etc.) must be uploaded to the submission system (pdf file). Please download, complete, and upload the template provided below.

Presentation Types

  • Oral presentation: 8 min presentation + 4 min discussion
  • Poster flash presentation: 4 min presentation + 2 min discussion 

The decision on type of presentation will be taken by the organizing committee based on the review outcome.

Timeline
  • Deadline abstract submission: 15 December 2023
  • Notifications to presenters: beginning of January 2024
  • Deadline registration: 31 January 2024

Awards

One award will be given to the best oral presentation in terms of one free registration to the European Molecular Imaging Meeting in March in Porto. As ySMIN is a young ESMI group, we aim to support Master Students and PhD students in the early phase of their career. Therefore, only Master Students and PhD students will be eligible for the award.

Terms and Conditions

Abstracts of commercial nature will be refused. The organizing committee reserves the right to exclude any abstract from the reviewing process and/or programme.

The personal data associated with your abstract will be handled according to the privacy guidelines of the European Society for Molecular Imaging (ESMI).
